Linda Sue Vaughn

1950 ∼ 2025

Linda Sue Vaughn

Linda Sue (Simon) Vaughn was born in Pasadena, Texas on November 12, 1950 to Melvin and Lucy Simon. She unexpectedly passed away in Mansfield, Texas on January 31, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m., Friday, February 7, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Kevin Brown, of First Baptist Church Mauriceville. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

After graduating from Mauriceville High School, she began a career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and used her tenacity, keen memory, wonderful personality, lightning-fast typing skills, and ability to complete any task working her way up to an executive assistant.

She loved her family, Oldies, random trivia, watching the birds in her backyard, studying the Old Testament, and laughing with her friends. She could be counted on for anything except praying out loud in public. Many lucky people considered Linda their “best friend”.

She is preceded in death by her oldest child, David Cooper; her parents; and brother, Glenn. Left behind to miss her support, conversations, and love are her husband of 39 years Dennis; daughter Hollie Casas (Joseph), step-daughter Natalie A. Vaughn (Gay Wucher), son Bryan Vaughn (Tiffanie); daughter-in-law Susan; grandchildren Hermosa, Cole, Anthony, Connor, Liam, Christian, Hazel, Oliver, and Charlotte; siblings Beverly, Jimmy, and Jeanne; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Joe Reimers, Mark Quinn, Keith Branson, Gerald Langham, Joseph Casas, and Mark Malin.

Linda was a perfect example of Godly wisdom as described in Proverbs 31.

Sweet Hollie I did not know your Mom, but I do know how much you loved her and how special your relationship was. It always sounded like you were speaking of your Best friend when you spent time with her. I know you and can’t help but to think that as special as you are I really missed out not ever getting to meet her! I’m sending you special hugs! K

God has such a special Angel in Heaven. Aunt Linda had such an outgoing, bubbly and infectious personality. She never met a stranger. I can still see her talking with such enthusiasm and getting so involved in conversation. I can still hear her singing the song Downtown to me when I was a little girl. I have such fond memories of her and miss her terribly. Fly high Aunt Linda. I love you. I will think of you every time I see a bird. She loved watching birds.
