Lionel Daniel Clippa, 90, of Orange, passed away Friday, January 24, 2014, at Southeast Texas Medical Center in Port Arthur.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2014, at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Jena, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Brady Williams, Mark Spillers, Cody Hogan, Brandon Hogan, Doug Montoya and Jeremy Clippa. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brian Williams, Marshall Sharp, Lester Spillers, Donnell Williams and Stephen Maxfield.
Visitation will be 3:00 pm. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in New Llano, Louisiana on April 14, 1923, Lionel was the son of Daniel John Clippa and Lucina (Obanion) Clippa. He served in the U.S. Navy and Army National Guard. Lionel was a machinist at Livingston and in 1968, he became a Deacon and served at Bethel Baptist Church and Hartburg Baptist Church. He was a faithful member at Calvary Baptist Church in Deweyville. Lionel enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad and son and woodworking.
Lionel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel John Clippa and Lucina (Obanion) Clippa; wife of 64 years, Helen Clippa; and sister, Jeanette Hirsch.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Linda Williams and husband, Donnell of Orange, Debra Spillers and husband, Lester of Leesville, Louisiana, Brenda Maxfield and husband, Steve of Buckeye, Arizona, Matthew Clippa of Deweyville and Belinda Sharp and husband, Marshall of Bridge City.
He is also survived by ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; nine great great-grandchildren and many family and friends who will love and miss him.
