Lloyd H. Sittig

Lloyd H. Sittig, a loving husband, great dad and wonderful "Daddy Lloyd" to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, passed from his earthly home to his eternal home on Monday, November 1, 2010.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 3rd at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 4th in the chapel of Claybar Funeral Home with the Reverend Barry Bradley, pastor of First Baptist Church in Orange, officiating. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Oak Grove Cemetery in Nacogdoches.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Fellowship Men's Bible Class of First Baptist Church in Orange.
Born in Goose Creek, Texas on April 7, 1921, Lloyd was the son of Lawrence and Clara Boudreaux Sittig. On June 28, 1946, he married the love of his life, Jean Jinkins. Following their marriage, Lloyd and Jean moved to Orange where he began a long career with DuPont Sabine River Works. He retired in December 1982, following 36 years of dedicated service.
Lloyd was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII where he served in the European Theater. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Orange and a member of the Fellowship Men's Bible Class. He was a long time member of the Orange Lion's Club and was honored to have been twice selected Lion of the Year. He also enjoyed time spent drinking coffee and visiting with the members of the Kroger Coffee Club.
Preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Clara Sittig and sister, Alva Osbon, Lloyd is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean Sittig of Orange; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. L. Farris and Sherry Sittig of Chattanooga, Tennessee; grandchildren, Travis Sittig and his wife, Deborah of Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, Karrie Davis and her husband, Jon of Chattanooga, Tennessee; great grandchildren, Grace, Cannon and Clark Sittig and Josh, Katelyn and Heston Davis; and his sister, Juanita Schlisher of West Orange.
Lloyd was a quiet, humble and faithful servant. Although he will be deeply missed, we rejoice that he is in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1453, Orange, Texas 77631 or to the charity of the donor's choosing.
