Lois Smithson Nelson

July 18, 1918 — June 15, 2007

Lois Smithson Nelson, 88, of Orange, went to be with her Lord, Friday, June 15, 2007, at The Meadows Nursing Home in Orange.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 18, 2007 at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange.
Officiating will be Reverend Damon Bickham of First Baptist Church Deweyville. Burial will follow at King Cemetery in Hartburg.
Visitation will be from 6:00 ? 9:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Nelson was born July 18, 1918, in Arkansas, to Prussia Berlin Reese and Jennie Hile Reese. Mrs Nelson was a homemaker and an active member of Hartburg Baptist Church. She also taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the Gray Ladies at Orange Baptist Hospital. She also enjoyed visiting the home bound.
She was preceded in death by parents, her first husband and father of their children, Clyde Smithson, son, Jerry Carl Smithson, granddaughter, Kimberly Smithson, and Mrs. Nelson?s sister Gladys Adams. Her second husband, Frank Nelson also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughters, Lynn Smithson Fields and husband Arlon of Orange, Clydia Smithson Brown and husband J.D. of Lumberton, son, Fred Smithson and wife Marilyn of Kennewick, WA and daughter in law, Charlene Moore of Tomball. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Greg Skidmore and wife Amy, Donnie Skidmore and wife Cindy, Stacey Skidmore Brister and husband Larry, Shawn McCamey and wife Maurine, April Becker and husband Matt, Britt Smithson and wife Tonya, Mitch Smithson and wife Cyndi, Kevin Smithson and wife Beth, Shelly Smithson-Schragg and husband Myles, Eric Smithson and wife Julie and Sarah Smithson, sixteen grandchildren, and her sister Esther Palmer of Jasper.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at The Meadows and the SouthernCare Hospice for their loving care.
