Lois Weeks Hollister Davis

Lois Hollister Davis, 90, of Beaumont, passed away at her home Thursday, May 13, 2010, surrounded by her children, family and friends. Mrs. Davis was born October 29, 1919 in Woodville, to George and Nora Weeks. She met and married Archie Hollister in 1943. Lois was a vibrant lady who lit up every room she entered. She enjoyed a successful real estate career and was very active in her church. She also loved her family and enjoyed tending her beautiful garden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, Archie Hollister, and more recently, her husband of four years, Dowell Davis. Those left to cherish her memory are daughters Eileen H. Cart and husband, Julius, of Coldspring, TX, Barbara H. Jackson and husband, Jerry, of Kountze, TX and Carolyn Hollister Galloway of Beaumont, TX; grandchildren, D. Reagan Summers, E. Shawn Summers, Julius Blaine Cart, Breck Dewayne Cart, Kristi Blackwell and husband, Ricky, Brandi Hendrix, and husband, Dean, and Jason Galloway. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren and brother, Clayton Weeks, and sisters, Nelda Poole and Estaline Weeks.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 15, 2010, 10:00 a.m. in the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Chapel with interment to follow in Magnolia Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family wishes to acknowledge our mother's long-time caregiver, Ella Mae White and, more recently, Angie Allen, Mary Cane, and Tredale Simien. Also, the family extends a special thank you to Wendy McElroy, mother's hospice nurse and a very caring person.
