Louis Manuel, Jr., 75, of Orange, went home to be with our Lord on Friday, March 26, 2010, at his residence, with his family by his side.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 30th at Old First Orange Baptist Church, with Reverend Bailey Harris, pastor, officiating. The eulogy will be given by long time friend, Charlie Phillips.
Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Vinton, Louisiana on August 3, 1934, Louis was the son of Olivia and Louis Manuel, Sr.
He was a graduate of Lutcher Stark High School and attended the University of Houston.
Louis worked for a brief time at Levingston Shipbuilding Co. and in 1958, began his career with Gulf Refinery in Orange. He retired from Chevron in 1992, as a maintenance supervisor.
He served in the National Guard for eight years, was a member of Orange County Sheriff's Posse and attended McDonald Memorial Baptist Church and Old First Orange Baptist Church.
Louis was an avid outdoorsman and relished the time spent fishing and golfing with friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his wife, Alisa Manuel; first wife and friend, Aleene Manuel; brother, Kenneth Manuel;
aunt, Ollie V. Pitre; children, Sherry Morgan, Ricky Manuel and his partner, Lou Ann Chism and Charlie Culpepper; grandchildren, Kyle Manuel, Kristina Manuel, Michaela Culpepper, Frankie Morgan and his wife, Stacy and Timothy Chism; great grandchildren, Katelyn Morgan and Cale Morgan, all of Orange.
Also surviving are his nephews, Kory Manuel and Troy Manuel; brother-in-law, Kenny Kelly, all of Orange; and sisters-in-law, Kathy Montague of Petal, Mississippi and Tracy Bryan of Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
