Louis "Big Lou" Gerard Moore

Louis “Big Lou” Gerard Moore, 63, of Orange, Texas, passed away on July 11, 2025, at Baylor St. Lukes in Houston.

A celebration of life for Louis Moore, affectionately known as "Big Lou," will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 18, 2025, at First Baptist Church Orange, officiated by Reverend Josh Fults. Visitation will take place from 5:00 to 9:00 PM on Thursday, July 17, at the church.

Born on July 11, 1962, in Groves, Texas, Louis was the son of Joseph and Betty Landry Moore. He was a cherished member of his community and dedicated 37 years of his life to his career as a printer operator at Brown Hearing Centers. A proud graduate of West Orange-Stark, Louis excelled athletically and stood out in many sports. He was an outstanding football player and was honored to play at Lamar University. Known for his kindness and warm demeanor, he never met a stranger. Louis was always bringing smiles to those around him with his many jokes and his desire to create a light, fun environment.

In his personal life, Louis treasured his role as “Poppy” to his grandchildren and found great joy in fishing during his leisure time. He was actively involved in his community, helping to establish the CCA chapter of Orange County and proudly serving as a member of the Orange Noon Lions Club. A virtuous man, his faith was a cornerstone of his life, reflected in his regular attendance at First Baptist Church Orange. He grew up attending St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Mary School, where he learned the values of obedience and Christian living. His legacy will live on through the cherished memories of those whose lives he touched.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Betty Moore. He is survived by his loving wife, Connie Nugent Moore; daughters, Megan Moore and Cressa Hebert; grandchildren, Briley Alston, Cameron Moore, and Aspyn Wofford; and siblings, Lisa Moore, Sam Moore and his wife Jody, Mike Moore and his wife Sharamie, and Jody Moore and his wife Shanna. He is also survived by countless nieces, nephews, loving family members, and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Sam Moore, Mike Moore, Jody Moore, Clint Landry, Chuck Neeley,Matthew Toohey, Brian Wofford, Troy Waddell, Kyle Waddell, and Robert Van Pelt.

I worked with Big Lou for 9 years at Brown Hearing Aid. Although we worked in different departments he always had a joke for me. One of which was when I wore anything black and yellow, he would always refer to me as a "Bruised Banana." He was light hearted and never let anything get to him. He will sorely be missed! Rest in peace my friend. My Prayers and Condolences are with Connie, Megan and all of his family.
