Louise Self, 85, passed into the arms of God on September 25, 2007 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas.
She was born in Jena, Louisiana to Millard Lee and Elsie Scarborough Doughty on February 1, 1922. A resident of Orange, Texas for 65 years, she was a member of Little Cypress Baptist Church for 51 years. During WWII, she worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Orange. She devoted her life to being a loving wife and faithful mother.
Louise loved God, her family, flowers, gardening and her boxer dog Dolly.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Herbert Self of Orange. Also surviving her are two children Gary Self and wife Cathey and daughter Donna Mitchell and husband Carey all of Orange. She has four grandchildren: Jonathan Self of Orange, Emily Bradley and husband Aaron of Houston, Christina Judice and husband Rick of Pt. Neches, and Erika Mitchell of Austin. Two great grandchildren are Pamela Harrell of Austin and Kendall Judice of Pt. Neches.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter.
Services will be held at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange with visitation on Wednesday September 26, 2007 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The funeral will be on Thursday September 27, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Roy Bodenhamer, Joe Hudson, Marvin Potter, Thurl Minchew, Randy Carruthers and Walter Evans.
