Obituary

Lourita Matthews LeJeune, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026, in Vidor, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, July 17, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas. Officiating will be Reverend Melvin Edwards. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Orange, Texas.

Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 am, Friday, July 17, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas.

Born on September 29, 1940, in Crowley, Louisiana, Lourita lived a life filled with love, family, and the simple joys of nature. Lourita's greatest joy in life was her family, whom she absolutely adored. She found immense happiness in the simple beauties of nature, loving flowers, the delicate dance of hummingbirds, and the tranquility of being outdoors. Her spirit was truly at home by the water, whether she was enjoying a day of crabbing or soaking in the sun at the beach. Her warm heart and loving spirit touched everyone who knew her.

She leaves behind her beloved husband of 64 years and 10 months, Benjamin LeJeune; her devoted children, daughter, Debbie Parker and husband Reggie; and sons, Terry LeJeune and wife Jessica, Randy LeJeune and wife Dana, Ronnie LeJeune and wife Dawn, and Darrell LeJeune. Lourita is also survived by her dear brother, Lercy Matthews, sister, Barbara Benoit, sister-in-law, Susie Istre, along with numerous cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many other loving friends and family members.

Lourita was preceded in death by her father, Noah Matthews; her mother, Eunice Istre; her grandson, Ryan LeJeune; and her brothers, Chester Matthews, Murphy Matthews, Calvin Istre, and Lloyd Istre.

The LeJeune family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Vidor Health and Rehab and Harbor Hospice for the wonderful and compassionate care provided to Lourita.
