Lowell E. Race, 96, of Beaumont passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010.
A graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery Tuesday, July 20, 2010.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Claybar Kelley Watkins Funeral Home on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m.
Mr. Race was born March 24, 1914 in Eldora, IA to George and Lenora Large Race. He served his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII, was a minor league baseball player and was later a dairy farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister and is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Dorothy Marie Magdaline Geheb Race and sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Josefine Race of Panama City Beach, FL, Dennis Race, Gary and Margaret Race of Sterling, CO and Leslie and Sandra Race of Greeley, CO. He is also survived by four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and his sister, Lois Hughes of California.
