Lucila Escamilla, 83, of Beaumont, passed away on September 4, 2020, in Beaumont.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 8, at Cristo Rey Catholic Church in Beaumont. Burial will follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery in Beaumont.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, with a Rosary starting at 6:00 p.m., at Claybar Kelly Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont.
Born in General Teran, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, on May 1, 1937, she was the daughter of Cresencio de la Garza and Mercedes Garcia de la Garza. Lucila was a very devoted and faithful member of Cristo Rey Catholic Church for 58 years. She made the best Tamales around and sold them to help raise money for the church. Lucila was an excellent seamstress and loved spending her spare time gardening. She adored her family most of all and was always there for them when they needed her. Lucila left an imprint on so many lives and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cresencio and Mercedes de la Garza; her loving husband Ricardo Escamilla; grandson, Cesar Alvarez; and brothers, Leopoldo de la Garza and Abelardo de la Garza.
She is survived by her children, Ricardo Escamilla and wife Elizabeth, Gerald Escamilla and wife Rachel, and Idolina E. Gonzalez and husband Jorge; grandchildren, Gabrianna Escamilla, Mia Escamilla, Roxanne Garcia, Rachael Smithwick, Renee Buentello, Regina Gutierrez, Monica Gonzalez; 10 great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ricardo Escamilla, Gerald Escamilla, Jorge Gonzalez, and Jesus Abrego.
