Our loving Lula was a lifelong resident of Orange, Texas and was preceded in death by her husband Tommy J. Richard, Jr. and our precious angel Amy Rene Richard. She was also a lifelong, second generation member of the First church of the Nazarene.
Lula Richard departed this life early, Tuesday morning, April 15, 2008. She died at home with her family at her side.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 17, 2008, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Bruce McGraw. Interment will follow at Dorman Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at the funeral home.
Lula worked for several years as an employee for the Orange Leader and was named "Carrier of the Year" twice. She worked for many years in the Foster Grandparent program, receiving multiple honors, including Grandparent of the Year. She truly loved working with children.
Lula is survived by her children; son Tommy D. and Judy Richard of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, daughter Judy and Alan Rosegrant of DeRidder, LA., son Michael Richard of Orange, TX., daughter Bonnie Sue and Bill Voeltz of Orange, TX., and her special "other son" Scott Hasty of Orange, Texas. She has five grandchildren; Troy D, and Jan Richard of Plano, TX. Frank Rosegrant of Olathe, KS., Heather and Rusty Daigle of Baton Rouge, LA., Catherine and Beau Gregory of Denham Springs, LA. She also has seven great grandchildren; Blakely and Ally Rosegrant, Blake and Nathan Richard, Grant and Avery Gregory and Olivia Daigle.
Serving as pallbearers will be Troy D. Richard, Frank A. Rosegrant, Michael D. Richard, Beau Gregory, Rusty Daigle, Scott Hasty, and Damon Vacek. Honorary pallbearers will be Adam T. Church, Frank Faires, Wallace Shaunfield, and Alan Rosegrant.
