Lula Mae Brian, 96, passed away August 11, 2015 in Beaumont, TX. She was born July 25, 1919 in Henderson, TX to Arthur and Lillie (Brooks) Stokes.
Mrs. Brian was a strong woman with an even stronger faith. Even though her life held hard times and struggles she persevered and smiled her way through them. Never did she let anything stand in her way of caring for those she loved.
After the death of her husband, Cecil Alonzo (Lon) Brian, in 2006 she moved to Beaumont to live with her son.
She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Elsie Stokes and Bonnie Smith and her brother, Lloyd Stokes. She is survived by her sons, Robert K. Barton and his wife, Phyllis, of Longview, TX and John Brian and his wife, Anna Jane, of Beaumont, TX; grandsons, Robert Allen Barton, John Michael Barton, Russell Lee Brian and Kevin Philip Brian and his wife, Shelley, and great-grandchildren, Eli Barton, Emily Barton and Caleb Barton.
Mrs. Brian was a resident of Summer Place Nursing Home for several years. The staff, both administrative and medical, cared for her with love and compassion. This care did not go unnoticed and her family wants to express their thanks for going so far above and beyond.
She was also cared for by another amazing group of people, Gentiva Hospice. We are so appreciative of the care and attention provided. Certainly ending her life's journey was made much more gentle and restful by your part in her life.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, August 14, 2015 from 4 – 6 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home in Beaumont.
