Lyndon H. Robinson, Sr., 94, of Orange, died Tuesday, September 14, 2010, at his home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 17, 2010, at First United Methodist Church in Orange with Reverend Tom Stephenson and Reverend Toney Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bride City.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Buckhannon, West Virginia on January 22, 1916, Lyndon was the son of Stella Cathryn Parks and Perry Robinson. He was a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1939, a member of the Orange Community Band, a lifelong choir member, and a licensed pilot. Lyndon was also a professional engineer and worked at DuPont for 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his son, Paul E. Robinson; and brother, Parks Robinson.
Lyndon is survived by his wife of 71 years, Virginia Downs Robinson; son, Lyndon Robinson, Jr. and his wife, Minnie of Redlands, California; and daughter, Carol Jane Allen and her husband, Jimmie of Orange.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Debra Pyle, Nancy Devine, Matthew Allen and Stephen Allen, Sr.; great-grandchildren, Stephen Allen, Jr., Caitlin Allen, John Allen, Joey Allen, Josh Allen, Naomi Devine and Drew Devine; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Stephen Allen, Sr., Stephen Allen, Jr., Matthew Allen, John Allen, Jim Brown and Don Grooms.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 502 North 6th Street, Orange, Texas 77630.
