Mabel Hebert Duhon, 98, of Burkeville, Texas, died Thursday, June 23, 2011, at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25th at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Kirbyville, Texas with Father Ron Foshage, pastor, serving as the celebrant.

A graveside committal service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange, Texas, with Father Tom Phelan, pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Orange, officiating.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 24th in the parish hall of Our Lady of LaSalette Church in Kirbyville. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday in the parish hall.

Services are under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Mrs. Duhon was born in Boone?s Corner in Cameron Parish, Louisiana on September 19, 1912. She was the daughter of Raymond and Leontine Montie Hebert. She moved to Orange in 1946 where she lived until relocating to Burkeville in 1994. She was a homemaker and had worked at the former Worth?s Department Store in Orange.

Mrs. Duhon was a member of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church in Kirbyville. She had been a Lay Dominican for more than 20 years and a member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas for more than 22 years. She was involved with the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and was a member of the Alter Society of Our Lady of LaSalette Church in Kirbyville and St. Francis of Assisi Church in Orange.

Mrs. Duhon was a member of the Newton Garden Club and the Cedar Grove Neighborhood Coffee Club.
She was a former member of the Ladies Propeller Club, had served on the advisory board of Friends Helping Friends in Orange, had been a volunteer at the Heritage House Museum in Orange and for several years served as a caregiver for several families in Orange.

Mrs. Duhon was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Leontine Hebert of Sulphur, Louisiana; her husband, J.C. Duhon, son, Jerry Duhon, both of Orange and brother and sister-in-law, Murray and Laura Hebert of Lake Charles, Louisiana.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kermit and Ione Duhon of Leesville, Louisiana; daughters, Judy Tuter of Deweyville, Texas, Becky Hudson of Burkeville; seven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren and special friends, Karla Rita Guyote and Carol Ann Daigle.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the youth groups of Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church, 1901 South Margaret Avenue, Kirbyville, Texas 75956 or St. Michael?s Catholic Church, 2898 Highway 190 W, Jasper, Texas 75951.
