Margaret “Margie” Alice Stevens, 94, of Orange, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 13, 2019, at her daughter, Donna’s home, with her family in Little Cypress, Texas.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Brother Watson Franks of Riceland Hospice. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m., at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Houston, Texas, on July 24, 1924, she was the daughter of Eugene Vernon Alford and Helen Mable (Keating) Alford. Margie spent many years working as a clerk at her son’s store, Rick’s Discount Liquor and 10th Street Liquor. She enjoyed spending time her grandkids. Margie also enjoyed watching “The Voice,” “The Bachelor,” “Wheel of Fortune,” and “The Golden Girls.” In her younger years, she loved playing chess and Scrabble with her sisters, Helen Dunlap and Jean Nichols. Margie loved watching football, and her favorite team was the New England Patriots. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Helen Alford; her loving husband, George W. Stevens; her son, Richard “Rick” G. Stevens; and her sisters, Helen Dunlap and Jean Nichols.
She is survived by her children, Donna Sullivan and husband Wayne of Orange, Mark Stevens of Brazoria, and Larry Stevens of Brazoria; her grandchildren, Derek Borel of Orange and Preston Sullivan of Orange.
Serving as pallbearers will be Derek Borel, Wayne Sullivan, Preston Sullivan, and Michael Gauthier.
