Margaret Shaw Pokorney, of Lumberton, Texas was born on July 19, 1918 in New York City and went home to be with her Lord on May 6, 2018, she was 99 years old.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Pokorney; daughter, Gail Brigman and grandson, Frederick E. Pokorney. She is survived by her 7 sons, Glenn, Gregory, Gary, Fred, Eric, David and Stephen Pokorney; 2 daughters, Kathleen Bradford and Aletha Everett; 25 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Sister Margaret was a faithful member of Beaumont Grace and Truth Gospel Tabernacle for over 40 years. She was known to pray for nearly 3 hours every day and was a gifted poet and songwriter.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Monday, May 14, 2018, at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home, 1155 North 11th Street, Beaumont with Reverend Jack Bell officiating. Interment will be held at 1:00 pm in Prien Memorial Park, 2220 Country Club, Lake Charles, Louisiana. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, May 13, 2018 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Fred Smids, Mark Svoboda, Howard Maxwell, Henry Freeman, Dennis Davis and Jeff Bell. Honorary pallbearers are Ed McCreery and Tom Leininger.
