Margie Koonce, 91, much loved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother passed away in Edmond, OK, February 16, 2008.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 21, 2008, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Reverend Barry Bradley will officiate. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Margie was born August 9, 1916, in Cliff, OK, to Ella and Austin Benson. She graduated from Healdton High School in Healdton, OK. After graduating from business school in Oklahoma City she returned to Healdton to work in the Healdton Public Library. She came to Orange in the early 40's and was a secretary in the Shipyard where she met and later married Marshall T. Koonce, they married October 11, 1943.
She worked for many years in the PTA and was a Life Member of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers, she also served as treasurer and secretary for WMU.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church for more than 65 years. She worked with preschool children and supervised the church nursery and Mother's Day Programs for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and sisters and her husband.
She is survived by her daughters, Judith McNamara of Edmond, OK, and Kay Collier of Orange, her grandsons, Kurt Collier and Casey Collier; great grandchildren, Dillan DeRoche, Kaylee Collier and Camryn Collier.
