Marian LaVerne Pendergast

Marian LaVerne Pendergast, 97, died on Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at the Meadows Nursing Home in Orange, TX.
Visitation will be at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 26, 2007.
Burial with a graveside service will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Watonga, OK, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 29, 2007.
LaVerne was born on March 8, 1910, near Eagle City, OK to Leon and Hazel Dyke. She spent her early childhood in Watonga, OK, then her family moved to Southard, OK, where she graduated from high school in 1928. In 1934 she married Kenneth Vere Pendergast in Enid, OK. In 1939 they moved to Oklahoma City where LaVerne first worked in cafeteria food service then operated her own successful business asLaVerne?s Frozen Foods. In 1966 they returned to Watonga where they worked at Roman Nose State Park and became members of the First United Methodist Church. Vere died in 1990. In 1993 LaVerne moved to Orange, TX where she lived until her death.
In Orange she was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, the Lunch Bunch and the Thrift and Gift Shop where she made many new friends.
LaVerne is survived by her son Eldon Pendergast and his wife Royce of Orange and their children; David Pendergast and Tracy Fillip with her husband Tom and children Madeline and Frank all of Houston.
The family wishes to thank the staffs at Oakwood Manor in Vidor, the Meadows of Orange and Odyssey Hospice for their loving care of LaVerne.
