Marie Carlton Ellis
Marie Carlton Ellis, 95, of Orange, died Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Oakwood Manor in Vidor.
Born in Patroon (Shelby County), Texas, on March 19, 1922, Marie was the daughter of Charles henry (Charlie) and Phama (Anderson) Carlton. She was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Pinehurst. She was a housewife and a Mama. She was a Ree Ree and Aunt Ree to many. She worked for a short while at Bob’s Grill on MacArthur Circle and at Buckley’s Grocery Store in Brownwood. She loved to travel. One of her favorite trips was to Montana. She was a resident of Oakwood Manor in Vidor where she made many friends and the staff became family over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur R. Ellis; Sister, Rosa LeBlanc; niece, Billie Marie (Davis) Loignon; and great niece, Anna Bowman.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Toni Ellis Royston and husband Tim of Vidor; grandchildren, Skyler Royston and wife Tifani, of Orangefield, Shadoe Haney and husband Kyle of Vidor; great grandchildren, Jynika, Declan and Parker Royston, and Willow and Fletcher Haney; and nephew, Charles Collum and wife Betty, of Vidor. She is also survived by her great nieces and nephews; Jimmy Oathoudt, Andrea Dugas, Michelle Loignon, Michael Loignon, Angel Bowman Tijerina, Bryan Dale Green; and so many more that were dear to her heart.
I shared my Mama with so many and so many loved my Mama in return. She will be missed.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Royston, Skyler Royston, Michael Loignon, Charles Collum, Kyle Haney, and Bryan Dale Green.
Honorary Pallbearer is Jimmy Oathoudt.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange with burial following at Jett Cemetery in Orange.
Visitation will be preceding the service beginning at 2:00 p.m.
