Marie Elaine Johnson, 100, of Orange, Texas, passed away on September 22, 2024, at her home in Mauriceville. 

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., September 27, 2024, at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Groves. 

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on October 16, 1923, she was the daughter of O.J. Thibodeaux and Judith Hebert Thibodeaux. A member of St. Maurice Catholic Church. Elaine’s professional journey as a retired schoolteacher in Texas and Louisiana allowed her to shape the minds of countless students, instilling in them a love for learning that would last a lifetime. Beyond her career in education, Elaine was an accomplished artist and writer, expressing her creative passions through various mediums. Her artistic talent was only rivaled by her love of nature; she found great joy in birdwatching. Alongside her creative pursuits, Elaine was a devoted pet owner, caring deeply for her beloved dog, Beau, and her cat, Noelle. Elaine embraced her role as matriarch with love and joy. She was a proud grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, affectionately known as "GG" by all of her grandchildren. Her immense love for her family was evident in everything she did, creating a legacy that will be cherished for generations. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, O.J. and Judith Thibodeaux; her brother, Melvin Thibodeaux; and her son, Richard Robertson.

She is survived by her son, Gary Robertson and wife, Alice; her daughter, Susan Johnson; her grandchildren, Kristina, Eric, James and Travis; 10 great-grandchildren; 6 great great-grandchildren and one on the way; and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
