Marie Tarver

Marie Tarver, 82, of Bridge City, passed away on December 10, 2019, in Port Arthur.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 14, 2019, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Chaplain Mike Eves. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Center, Texas, on April 15, 1937, she was the daughter of Marvin Braxton and Iva (Cooper) Braxton. Marie graduated from Stark High School in Orange and went on to work for West Orange Cove ISD. She was a faithful member of Mauriceville Baptist Church. Marie loved her family very much especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her spare time she loved to paint and fish with her loving husband Gene. Marie will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene Tarver; and daughter, Ellen Denean “Dee” Tarver.

She is survived by her son, John Tarver and wife Dena; grandsons, Brandon Tarver and wife Lisa, Chris Tarver and wife Amber, Jeremy Smith and wife Jennifer, Eric Smith and wife Kate; 15 great grandchildren; siblings, Jerry Braxton and Tommie Jean Taylor.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Tarver, Eric Smith, Steven Tarver, Troy Taylor, Jeremy Smith, and Jay Braxton.
