Marilyn Mary Thacker

Marilyn Mary Thacker, 74, of Lumberton, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025.

 Funeral services will be 11:00am, Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery. 

 Visitation will be held on February 18, 2025, at 10:00 am at the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home, located at 1155 N 11th St, Beaumont, TX 77702.

 Born on February 15, 1950, in Vinton, Louisiana, Marilyn graced the lives of everyone she met with her innate kindness and unwavering faith.

 Marilyn was a dedicated member of the Christian Fellowship in Beaumont, where she found joy and support among her church community. Her daily walks through scripture were a testament to her steadfast belief and deep spirituality. She approached life with a loving heart, ensuring that her family and friends knew they were cherished. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who poured her love into everything she did. 

A woman who truly had a green thumb, Marilyn delighted in nurturing her garden and cultivating flowers that would brighten her yard. Her passion for nature was matched only by her love for animals, particularly her cherished puppies, Chloe and Sophie. They were constant companions and a source of happiness in her life. 

Marilyn’s career was primarily devoted to taking care of children as the loving owner of a daycare, where countless children thrived under her gentle and caring guidance.

 She is preceded in death by her parents, Oran and Effie Gould; her brothers, Thomas Gould, Rodney Gould, Jerry Gould, and Henry Gould; and her sisters, Arlene Gould, Linda Gould, and Mary Ellen Fisher. 

She is survived by her husband, Dwight Thacker; her children, Dotry Carter and wife Darla, Dewanda Carter and Shaun Hanley, and Jeremy Reyna; 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; her sisters, Carolyn Collier and her daughter Tiffany Collier, Freda Gould, Joyce Flores, Lois Hodge and her husband Craig, Darlene Barron, Barbara Hale, Bertha Mae, and Juanita; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family. 

 Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Gavin Reyna, Cristian Carter, Brandon Carter, Thomas Measel, Carter Measel and Dalton Carter. Honorary pallbearer is her granddaughter, Demi Carter.
