Marilyn Avon Wheeler

Marilyn Avon Wheeler, 86, of Bridge City, Texas, passed away on August 11, 2024, at her home in Orange. 

 Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m., Friday, August 16, 2024, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Longview, Texas on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 3:00 p.m.

 Born in Indiana Harbor, Chicago, Illinois, on September 3, 1937, she was the daughter of Clarence Sandland and Ella Larson Sandland. Marilyn was a simple woman who dedicated herself to her family, faith, and work. She retired from working at 82 from Walmart in Bridge City, where she knew every face that came in. Her commitment was an inspiration to all who worked alongside her. Her greatest role however was Grandma, to her family that she loved dearly. Marilyn's faith was an essential part of her life, and she found solace and community at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where she was a devoted member for many years. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

 She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 27 years, Walter Wheeler; her parents, Clarence and Ella Sandland; and her sister, Betty Page.

 She is survived by her daughter, Carol Ford, of Bridge City; her sons, Walter “Goob” Wheeler and wife, Belinda of Orange, and John David Wheeler of Bridge City; her grandchildren, Rachel and Blake Leleux, Nick Wheeler, and India Wheeler; her great-grandchild, Ellie; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
