Marjorie Marie “Tootsie” Scales, 91, of Orange, Texas, passed away on December 30, 2024, in Orange. 

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 10, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Pastor Allen Chapin. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 10, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.

Born in Maurice, Louisiana, on January 2, 1933, she was the daughter of Edward Bindault and Lottie Brossard Bindault. A cherished soul known for her warmth and vivacity; Tootsie enriched the lives of all who had the privilege to know her. Tootsie had a passion for crafting and creativity, finding joy in sewing, decorating, and cooking. Her culinary delights were legendary, as she had an innate ability to bring comfort to those around her through the meals she prepared. A true embodiment of hospitality, she took great pleasure in hosting family gatherings where love and laughter abounded, ensuring that everyone always felt welcome. Her home was a sanctuary, filled with various owls she lovingly collected, each a testament to her unique taste and appreciation for the beauty in life. Tootsie was not only a practitioner of home comfort but also a conversationalist at heart; she relished the company of others and enjoyed engaging in lively chats with friends and family. A devoted member of her community, Tootsie looked forward to church every week. Her faith was a central part of her life, grounding and guiding her. As a beloved grandmother, she was affectionately called "Mawmaw Scales" by her grandchildren, a title that symbolized her nurturing spirit and the treasured moments shared within her family. Marjorie Marie "Tootsie" Scales leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and connection that will be remembered and cherished by all whose lives she touched.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Clyde Scales, Sr.; her parents, Edward and Lottie Bindault; and her sons, Clyde Scales, Jr., and Andrew Scales, Sr.

She is survived by her daughter, Susie Collins; her son, Edward Scales, Sr. and wife, Vickie; her grandchildren, Karen Brown, Angel Green and husband, Joe, AJ Scales, Chad Scales, Crystal Arnold and husband, Chris, Shelly Emady and husband, Daniel, and Allen Scales and wife, Sadie; her great-grandchildren, Shandy Kerr and husband, Clint, Ashton Brown, Ashley Green, Blake Green, Jaden Scales, Pricilla Scales, Jaylen Alfaro, Justin Scales and wife, Georgia, Chase Scales and wife, Caitlynn, Camron Scales, Caleb Scales, Tanner Scales, Christian Arnold, and Chloe Arnold; her great-great-grandchildren, Noah Kerr, Grayson Kerr, Waylynn Scales, Noah Scales; and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Chad Scales, AJ Scales, Allen Scales, Chase Scales, Camron Scales, Caleb Scales, Jaden Scales. Honorary Pallbearer will be Tanner Scales.
