Martha Evans Crosby, 85, of Orange, Texas, passed away on July 11, 2024.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 20, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Deweyville. Officiating will be Reverend Damon Bickham.
Born in Celeste, Texas, on March 3, 1939, she was the daughter of Junius Jennings Evans, Jr. and Bertha Mae McQueary Norton. Martha led a life filled with love, generosity, and a deep faith. Martha's dedication to her church, First Baptist Church in Deweyville, Texas, spoke volumes about her character. She was known for her kindness towards others and her unwavering commitment to caring for those around her. Martha's social nature shone brightly as she interacted with people from all walks of life, always ensuring that everyone felt valued and appreciated. With hard work and determination, she created a warm and welcoming home where family and friends gathered to share laughter and create lasting memories. In addition to her nurturing spirit, Martha’s skills in the kitchen were unmatched, and many will fondly remember the delicious meals she lovingly prepared. Her gardens were a testament to her love of nature; tending to her spring and fall gardens brought her immense joy. The vegetable garden held a special place in Martha's heart, especially her prized tomatoes and purple hull peas. Above all else, Martha loved and cherished her entire blended family. Martha Evans Crosby will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, faith, and unconditional love that will continue to inspire those who were touched by her presence.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Junius and Bertha Evans; her daughter, Marchia Snyder; her stepson, Russell Crosby; and many of her siblings.
She is survived by her loving husband of almost 50 years, Milford Max Crosby; her children, Boyd Ray Norton and wife, Paralee of Maypearl, Texas, Rebecca Lynn Joiner and husband, Raymond of Orange, David Lee Johnson of Orange, Chris Johnson of Orange, and Robert Wayne Johnson and wife, Rosalyn of Greenville, Texas; her step-children, Terry Jean Skillman and husband, Paul of Lewisville, Texas, and Milford Max Crosby, Jr. and wife, Lynn of Rockwall, Texas; her sister, Verdie Louise Crawford; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
