Mary Buzbee

September 10, 1923 — May 3, 2022

Mary Buzbee, 98, of Beaumont, passed away on May 3, 2022, at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont.

Graveside service will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. Officiating will be Brother David Goolsby.

She was the next to youngest child of seven born to Livonia Stewart Cromer and Earl Cromer on September 10, 1923. The children lost their mother at a young age, so they by Necessity became self-sufficient, helping their father on the farm and around the house. Even later in life, Mary never seemed to tire, which she credited to all the hard work she’d done throughout her life. They had a humble and simple life, but were happy, knowing God, and having caring family and friends. Mary never wavered from her faith and was a longtime dedicated member of North End Baptist Church. She was known as the cookie lady because she enjoyed baking, and she always made something delicious to share with church staff and friends. Mary also loved little children, and they returned the same love. She had just as much energy as they did. She worked at Mother’s Day Out and in the nursery on Sundays at North End Baptist Church, for many years. Mary was always amazed and in awe of how quickly children learned, just as much as she was in awe watching children she’d kept grow into young adults. She spent her spare time volunteering with the Gift of Life Program and at one time, was their oldest volunteer. Mary showed love and kindness wherever she could and was the sweetest, kindest person you could have ever known. She was truly loved and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Charles Buzbee; parents, Earl and Livonia Cromer; daughter-in-law, Beth Buzbee; and grandson, Derek Simoneaux; as well as four sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by her children, Chuck Buzbee of Conroe, Charlotte Simoneaux and husband Garry of Beaumont; granddaughter, Kim Bellini and partner Derek Ryan; grandsons, Corey Simoneaux, Britt Simoneaux and wife April; and two great-grandchildren, Isaak and August Simoneaux and as well as her little dog she loved deeply, Max.

To honor Mary’s life, please do an unexpected kindness for someone, or consider a contribution to the Gift of Life Program at 2910 Dowlen Rd, Beaumont, Tx 77706 or to North End Baptist Church at 5115 Eastex Fwy, Beaumont, Texas 77706.
