Mary Gier
Mary Gier, 87, of Orange, Texas, former resident of Franklin, Louisiana passed away on July 31, 2017, in Orange, Texas.
Born in Devine, Texas, on August 9, 1929, Mary was the daughter of George William Evans and Ina Evelyn Griffin. Mary loved to read, sew, and tend to her plants. She worked as a post master for USPS for 25 years in Centerville, LA. She loved her family and she had a gift for gab.
She is preceded by her parents; her husband, Edward Thomas Gier; her sons, William Edward Gier and Joel Allen Gier; her daughters, Betty Savoie and one at infancy.
She is survived by her children, Priscilla G. Luke and husband Rex of Orange, Robert Thomas Gier and wife Melanie of Vinton, and Eddie Allen of Huffman, TX; her grandchildren, John Edward Luke, Dawn Theriot, Christine Verret, Tanya Mireles, Maranda Ayers, Thanabut Gier, John Edward Gier, Lisa Gier, Brady Gier, Lindy St. Romain, Joel Gier, II, Josiah Gier, Jessica Gier, Kayleb Allen, and Quinten Allen; 15 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, James Arnold Evans, Euel Donald Evans and wife Johnnie, Ina Elizabeth Overstreet, and Billie Jo Evans.
Cremation is under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
