Mary Elizabeth Hardin, 97, of Orange, Texas, passed away on May 11, 2024, at Focus Care in Orange.
Born in Orange, Texas, on August 30, 1926, she was the daughter of Leon Ervell Smith and Jesse Edith (Barber) Smith. Mary was a beacon of light to all who knew her. Her presence and kind spirit touched the lives of many. In her free time, Mary enjoyed playing bingo and indulging in the thrill of gambling. These hobbies brought her immense joy and allowed her to socialize with others who shared her passions. Mary had a remarkable soul with a very big personality and a heart overflowing with love. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Jesse Smith; and husband, Rufflin Hardin.
She is survived by her son, Tommy Barber and wife, Shearin; longtime friend and caregiver, Shirley Powell.
Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
