Mary Josephine Kessell

Mary Josephine Merideth Kessell, 75, of Beaumont passed away Monday, September 13, 2010 at Harbor Hospice.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 17, 2010 at Wesley United Methodist Church. Reverend Robert Besser will officiate. Interment will follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday from 6 – 9:00 p.m. at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home.
Mrs. Kessell was born November 19, 1934 in South Charleston, West Virginia to Arthur and Leona Egan Merideth. She was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church for 28 years and apart of the 50/50 group at the church. She was educated at the Kanawha County School System, was a Rainbow Girl and retired from Montgomery Ward. One of her biggest passions was cross stitching and growing Amaryllis; every year around Easter they would bloom and she would make sure the church had an arrangement from her garden.
She is preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, R. Keith Kessell of Beaumont; son and daughter-in-law, Joe R. and Marsha Kessell of Vidor and daughter and son-in-law, Katherine Marie and David Williams of Katy. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sean Williams, Morgan Williams and wife, Jessica, Shannon Williams, Jimmy Kessell and Joann Singleton; great grandchildren, Levi Singleton, Emileigh Singleton and Travis Kessell; her cousin, Patty Kessler of Lansing, W.V. and many family members who adore her.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, Music Department, 3810 N Major Drive, Beaumont, TX, 77713 or to the Boy Scouts of America.
Mary was loved and adored by many people who knew her; she was a wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend and she will be missed dearly.
