Mary Frances Montgomery, 82, of Orange, Texas, passed away on December 13, 2024, at her home in Orange.  

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Deweyville. Officiating will be Reverend Damon Bickham. 

Born on September 4, 1942, in Taylor, Texas, she was the daughter of Hilton Carr and Mary Lewis Ogden Carr. A dedicated professional, she worked in accounting and auditing for the state of Texas, a career marked by her meticulous attention to detail and commitment to excellence. Mary Frances was known for her spirit of independence and a passion for life that shone through in everything she did. She found immense joy tending to her yard, where her love for nature flourished. An avid animal lover, Mary Frances had a special fondness for horses and dogs, dedicating her time to agility training with her canine companions. Her artistic side was expressed through her love of quilting, creating beautiful pieces that showcased her creativity and dedication. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Deweyville, she was an integral part of her community. Mary Frances believed in lifelong learning and was constantly seeking new knowledge and skills to enrich her life and the lives of those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of strength and creativity, and love for her family, her friends, and the community she cherished. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hilton and Mary Carr; her granddaughter, Bliss Payne; and her brother, Harold Carr.

She is survived by her loving husband, Vernon Montgomery; her daughter, Barbara Hanson; her step-daughter, Leah Payne and husband, Skip; her step-son, Lance Montgomery and DeAnn Massey; her grandchildren, Josh Allcorn, Lauren Hanson, and Dakota Payne and wife, Kristal; her great-grandchildren, Jailyn Brown, and Paisley Brown; her sister, Delores Ann Blomstrom and husband, Gene; her cousin, Suzanne Jenkins; and numerous other loving nieces, nephews, family members, and friends

The family would like to say a special thank you to Stonewood Hospice for their excellent care. 

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Austin Sheltie Rescue or the Humane society. 

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
