Mary “Stella” Estella Meaux, 79, of Orange, passed away on January 6, 2020, at Baptist Hospital surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 9, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Minister Chris Eppler of Mauriceville Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Johnson Bayou, Louisiana, on November 9, 1940, she was the daughter of Paul A. Burch, Sr. and Marie Burch. Stella was a homemaker and loved serving God at Mauriceville Church of Christ. Stella was a very strong woman who fought and survived a battle with lung cancer. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Stella was a big fan of Elvis Presley. In her spare time she also enjoyed doing puzzles, crocheting, doting on her plants, and watching her favorite old westerns and game shows. Stella will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Marie Burch; her beloved husband of 62 years, Leo Meaux, Sr.; infant son, Leon Meaux; brothers, Mark Burch and Murphy Burch, Sr.; and sisters, Inez Spell and Gertie Frazier.
She is survived by her children, Terry Meaux, Sr. and wife Susan, Victoria Jenkins and husband Bobby, James Meaux and wife Debbie all of Orange, John Meaux and wife Tina of Austin, Leo Meaux, Jr. and wife Liana of Groves, and Patricia McMullen and husband Marlin of Buna; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; brother Paul A. Burch, Jr. and wife June of Livingston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Meaux, Sr., James Meaux, John Meaux, Leo Meaux, Jr., Bobby Jenkins, and Marlin McMullen. Honorary pallbearers are Chris Lee, Terry Meaux, Jr. and Michael Meaux.
