Mary S. Hagner Werner Craig, 88, lifelong resident of Beaumont passed away on September 30, 2016 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont. Officiating will be Reverend Wayne E Werner and Reverend Jessie Wright of Caney Creek Open Door Church in Vidor. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home in Beaumont.
Born in Beaumont on March 28, 1928, she was the daughter of Louise (Frerich) and John W. Hagner. For a short time she worked as a switch board operator for Bell Telephone Company and at a nursing home. She loved going to church at Caney Creek Open Door where she was also a member and was a strong Christian woman who could pray fire down from heaven. She was an amazing seamstress, outstanding cook and had a greenthumb who could grow anything.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil E. Werner; step-daughter, Virginia Aleksandrowicz; 1 great granddaughter, Lily Henry; brother, Franklin Hagner and sister, Barbara Fountain.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses, Leo and Karen Werner of Warren, Wayne and Becky Werner of Lumberton, Jonathan and Jacinda Werner of Vacherie, LA, Sandra and Wayne Earnheart of Beaumont, Deborah Simon of Baton Rouge and Martha and Claude McMillin of Beaumont; 25 grandchildren; 53 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; her sister, Clara Eaves and a special friend who was like a daughter, Tiny Ray.
