Mary Ellen Polley Neil, 79, of Orange, passed away Monday, July 7, 2008, at Oakwood Manor.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July the 9th at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Dr. Andy Pate of First Christian Church of Orange. Interment will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.
Visitation was held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mary Ellen was born March 7, 1929, in Nome, TX. Her parents were Jack and Verna Eunice Nugent Polley.
Mary Ellen was a member of First Christian Church for 72 years, a member of the Pilot Club and a teacher at Little Cypress Mauriceville School for 29 years. She was also a Red Cross Hospital Volunteer at Hermann Memorial Baptist Hospital in Orange.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Neil, Sr., great granddaughter, Madyson Zöe McCain and two brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Neil Stewart and husband Richard of Arlington; her sons, Robert Bobby Neil, Jr. and wife Susan and George W. Neil, both of Orange; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and sisters, Geneva Thompson of Hondo and Mary Belle Angelle and husband Howard of Trinity.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Premeaux, Jimmy Smith, Leon Wallace, Rodney Lund, Sam Gibbons and Lance Brinkley.
