Maurice Eugene Gillet

Maurice Eugene Gillet, 89, of Orange, died Thursday, January 14, 2010, at Promise Hospital in Nederland.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 18, 2010, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange, with the Reverend Kevin Trinkle, officiating.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday, January 17, 2010, at the funeral home.

Born in Jennings, Louisiana on December 15, 1920, Maurice was the son of Eugene and Marie Miller Gillet.

He was a 1938 graduate of Orange High School and a U.S. Air Force veteran of WWII.

Maurice was a machinist and Tool Room Supervisor for Levingston Shipbuilding Company, retiring after 44 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Marie Gillet; wife, Faye Gillet; daughter, Diana Gillet Bean; four sisters and two brothers.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Janice Gillet of Orange; stepchildren, Tommy Simar and his wife, Sue, Carol Ann Daigle and her husband, Jay, all of Orange.

Also surviving are his grandchildren, Buffy Bean Martin and her husband, Jeremy, Wendy Gillet; step grandchildren, Chris Clark, Angie Clark, Lester Daigle, Jana Kay Daigle, Jeffrey Simar, David Simar; great granddaughter, Zoe Martin and step great grandchildren, Tiffaney Simar, Jessie Simar, Kaylea Daigle, A.J. Daigle and Calleigh Burton.

He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Martin, Chris Clark, Robert Teate, Lester Daigle, Glenn Curran and Kevin Curran.


Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Force and Jerry Burton.
