Maurice Lee Richard
Maurice Lee Richard, age 83, of LaBelle, Texas, passed away Monday June 5,2023.
Born July 12, 1939, he was the oldest son of the seven children of Ivy Primeaux Richard and Clyde Richard; a veteran of the US Marine Corps; a retiree from DuPont Beaumont Works (35 years); and one hard-working man. He rose before the sun for coffee, then headed out to maintain and work his land. He raised cattle, rabbits, and chickens. Every year alone he produced one of the biggest and most productive fruit and vegetable gardens in the area. He loved sharing his crops, especially okra and watermelon, with family and close friends. His grandchildren have many fond memories of PawPaw Moe, being with him in his garden tending his animals, walking for hours with him exploring, and sharing his pride in the land and the life he had built.
Maurice took little time for rest and relaxation, but had a passion for wildlife and hunting with his son and buddies at leases in Bandera and Comfort over many, many years. He also loved to dance (a lot), and was so good at it, he made every partner feel like she was a great dancer, too. Although not a
fisherman, he loved spending time at his pond looking for alligators and watching the grandchildren fish.
He is survived by his only child, David Lance Richard (Fannett), who credits his father with teaching him to work hard in all things; to try to get along with everyone, but to never give up the right fight; and stubbornness. Survivors also include Grandchildren: David Tyler Richard and wife Rachel (Austin), Chloe Elizabeth Richard Hayes and husband Jordan (Jarrell), and Caylee Ann Richard (Fannett); Great Grandson Kolter Beck Hayes (Jarrell); sister Susan Keneson LeBlanc (LaBelle); and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Joe Raymond Richard; sisters Rita Richard, Mary Richard Williams, Velma Richard Holcomb, Nora Richard Webb, and Helen Richard Sharp; and former wife, Dianne Sanders Richard
