Mazel B. Cook, 81, of Orange, Texas, passed away on October 30, 2020, at her home in Orange.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Sinclair Oubre. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Orange.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, with a recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 p.m., at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Opelousas, Louisiana, on November 19, 1938, she was the daughter of Darbes Smith and Waverly (LaFleur) Smith. Mazel was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She adored her children and grandchildren and cherished the time she spent with them. Mazel greatly enjoyed square-dancing and round-dancing. She also loved to sew and was a talented seamstress, making many of her own dancing dresses. Mazel spent 28 wonderful years with her husband, Bill. Together they made many precious memories while traveling all over the United States in their RV to sightsee and dance. Mazel will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Darbes and Waverly Smith; her beloved husband, Bill Cook, Sr.; as well as one sister and one brother.
She is survived by her children, Wayne Granger, Jr. of Nederland, Cindy Hudnall and husband Eric of Orange, Joseph White and wife Pam of Moss Bluff, Louisiana, Paul White and wife Tammy of Scottsdale, Arizona, Tim White and wife Sherri of Orange, Renee Whitaker and husband David of Nederland, and Bill “B. J.” Cook of Orange; her brothers, Aubrey Smith of Puerto Rico and Donald Smith of Pearland; her sister, Ann Sepulvado of Orange; and her 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael White, Christopher White, Justin White, Travis White, Dylan Whitaker, and Shane White.
