Melba Hebert Bodin McCabe

Melba Hebert Bodin McCabe, 81, of Orange, Texas, passed away on May 28, 2025, at Bonne Vie Nursing home in Port Arthur, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at St. Helen Catholic Church in Orangefield. Officiating will be Reverend Michael Strother. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on September 8, 1943, she was the daughter of Ernest A. Hebert and Gladys (Courtney) Hebert. She was a wonderful wife, and a caring and loving person. Melba was also a loving sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her greatest love was her family. She was a member of Saint Helen Catholic Church in Orangefield, Texas. Melba loved to decorate a table every year for the churches “Night of Elegance.” She was loved at church. Melba was a true servant of God and loved helping others. Melba loved going on church building trips with her husband. She worked at Texaco Refinery for a while and worked at Market Basket stores until she retired in 1999. Melba was deeply loved and will be missed by all that knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Gladys Hebert; and brother, Johnny Courtney.

She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Larry J. McCabe; sons, Wayne Bodin, Jr. and wife Tina, Brent Bodin and wife Kurstin; step-son, Jamie McCabe and wife Wendy; brother, Jay Hebert and wife Barbara; sisters, JoAnn Buckley, and Mary Ann Courtney-Janak and husband Don; grandchildren, Alicia Bodin Garcia and husband Anthony, Jordan Bodin McFarland and husband Aaron, Madison Rose Bodin, and Maddux Aaron Bodin; great grandchildren, Shelley and Avie Garcia, Camden, Lynix, Parker and Ryker McFarland; numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Helen Catholic Church, Right to Life at 8105 FM1442, Orange, TX 77630.
