Melvin Croaker, 63, of Orange, died Saturday, October 2, 2010, at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Randy Branch of Wesley United Methodist Church. Following the service will be a going home party at Wesley United Methodist Church.
A memorial gathering will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
Born in Minneola on May 28, 1947, Melvin was the son of Bettye Jo Hanson and Charles William "Shy" Croaker. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a supervisor at DuPont. Melvin enjoyed competing on the Double Barrel BBQ team, playing golf, and serving on the Go Texan Committee. The one favorite thing Melvin loved was playing with his grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, Melvin is survived by his wife of 42 years, Pam Croaker; daughter and son-in-law, Kelle and Ryan Ingram of Pearland; and son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Sophie Croaker of Orange.
He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Peyton and Aidan Croaker, Landry, Holden and Bennett Ingram; sister, Judy Turner; brother and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Myra Croaker and Bryan and Sherry Croaker; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Tim Schossow, Boyd Parks, Jerome Dimas, Ralph Caillier, Ray Pousson and John Gothia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Melvin's name for future scholarships at Orange Savings and Loan Bank.
