Melvin “Satch” Pierce, of Beaumont, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 2pm, Thursday, January 23, 2014, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Haven of Rest Crematory.

Visitation will be from 6pm to 9pm, Wednesday at the funeral home.

Born in Port Acres, Texas, on November 30, 1938, Satch was the son of Roy Peter Pierce and Edna (Guy) Pierce. He retired from Temple Inland after 38 years and served in the United States Marine Corps. Satch enjoyed hunting, fishing, oil painting, and working around the house. He was a real handyman and could build or work on anything.

Satch was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Catherine Pierce; sons, Kenneth Pierce and Glenn Pierce and siblings, Paul Pierce, Iris Hare and Ralph Pierce.

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Pierce of Beaumont; sons, Doug Pierce and wife, Joanne of Beaumont, Melvin Pierce and wife, Tina of Mesquite, Mike Pierce and wife, Kerri of Orangefield, Joe Pierce and wife, Leigh Anne of Woodlands; grandchildren, Joshua Pierce, Jordan Pierce, Kacy Pierce, Will Pierce, Troy Pierce, Cade Pierce, Sage Pierce, Cheyenne Pierce, Brooke Pierce, Jake Pierce, Mia Pierce, Addison Pierce, Jaxson Pierce, Christian Pierce; and sister, Willena Moore of Warren.
