Mike Bean, 73, of Orange, Texas, passed away on July 17, 2023, at his home in Orange.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 20, 2023, at MacArthur Heights Baptist Church in Orange with Reverend Jay Thomas officiating.
Born in Houston, Texas, on September 27, 1949, he was the son of Joe and Bessie Bean. Mike worked many years as a Law Enforcement Officer with the Bridge City Police Department until retiring in 2006, and he also taught Criminal Justice at Bridge City High School. After his second retirement, Mike worked as a Funeral Service Attendant for Claybar Funeral Home, spending his time taking care of others. He was a hard worker, a faithful man, and a devoted member of MacArthur Heights Baptist Church in Orange. In his free time, Mike enjoyed spending time with his family, travelling with his wife, Carolyn, before her passing, and participating in Civil War Reenactments across the country. He was a big man with an even bigger heart and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Bessie Bean; his loving wife, Carolyn Cook Bean; daughter, Loni Bean; and his sister, Julie Bean Morgan.
Those left to cherish Mike’s memory include his sons, Mark Bean and wife Melissa, Matthew Bean, Jeffrey Bean and wife Melissa, and Aaron Scalf and wife Stacy; grandchildren, Krissi Bean, Charles Bean, Brandon Bean, Jacob Bean, Colton Bean, Tristan Scalf, and Ashton Whitmer; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Norman Bean; and his sister, Rita Thomason and husband Tommy; along with numerous other loving family and friends.
