Funeral services for Mildred Griffin, 91, a 37-year resident of Lumberton, will be held, Thursday, September 6, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. in the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. James Bradford will officiate and interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 5 between 5:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Mrs. Griffin was born December 14, 1925, in Tyler, Texas to George and Jessie Carter and went to be with the Lord on September 4, 2007.
She will be remembered by many from her seventeen years as the nursery attendant at North End Baptist Church. She was also a thirty-seven year member of Loeb First Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are son, Graham C. Griffin and wife Sandra, daughter, Maxine Royse and husband Cecil and son, Charles Griffin and wife Irene, all of Lumberton; eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; and brother Granville Carter and wife Paula of Town Bluff. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Maxey Griffin, her parents, two brothers, and four sisters. She will be greatly missed by the family and friends she loved so much.
