Funeral services for Mildred Lucille McMahon will be held Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a gathering of family and friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19.
Mrs. McMahon was born March 8, 1911 in Mayo, TX to G.F. and Lucille Dalton and passed away in Denton, TX on June 16, 2009. She was a charter member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Smart Set Sunday School class and she was an avid RVer and fisherwoman. In her younger years, she loved to play tennis and played competitively with Babe Didrickson Zaharias. Mildred was a talented seamstress and knitter. Mamaw, as she was known to her grandchildren, loved to knit house slippers, baby sweaters and preemie newborn caps for the hospitals. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee R. McMahon and granddaughter, Anna Marie McMahon. Those left to cherish her memory are daughter, Margaret Ann Brady and husband, Gerred; son, Gordon Lee McMahon and wife, Gloria; sister, Lula Belle Campbell; grandchildren, Kathy Johnson, Wyatt McMahon, Rachal Gibson, Lee Ann Miller, Jennifer Gampper, eleven great-grandchildren and dearest friend Mary Helen.
