Mildred Naomi Litherland Johnson, 82, of Orange, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010, at her home.
Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2010, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange with Reverend Kevin Trinkle and Mr. Glenn Fisher officiating. Burial of cremated remains will follow at V.F.W. cemetery in Starks, Louisiana.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Born in Gibbstown, New Jersey on June 22, 1928, Naomi was the daughter of Barney and Gertrude Litherland. She graduated from Woodstown High School, in Woodstown, New Jersey in 1947. She went on to attend The Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Wilmington, Delaware where she graduated in 1950 and soon earned her R.N. License in 1951. Throughout Naomi's career she was employed by various hospitals around the country as well as in Hawaii. She was a faithful member of the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post #4759, in Starks, Louisiana and held numerous offices and chairmanships.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers; Lawrence "Larry" Litherland and James "Jim" Litherland, and her beloved husband Maxie Johnson.
Those left to cherish her memory are three nephews; Julian "Skip" Litherland, of Austin, Texas, James Dale Litherland, of Middletown, Pennsylvania, and Michael Litherland, of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, three nieces; Susan Gonyea, of Richmond, Virginia, Darlene Ader of Delta, Pennsylvania, and Debbie DeGuzman, of Quarryville, Pennsylvania, and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces.
Naomi is also remembered by Patsy Guidry, her close companion and caregiver for the last 18 months of her life, along with a multitude of friends.
