Mitchell Beaumon "Mickey" Webster, Sr., of West Orange, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at home, from a massive heart attack. He had the privilege of singing praises to his Father on this past Sunday morning in a special rendition of "Why Me Lord", at Harvest Chapel where he was a member.
Mickey was born on December 31, 1943, in Birmingham, Alabama to Russell L. Webster and Mary Lou Hagler Webster and grew up in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He graduated from West Orange High School, attended Sam Houston Institute of Technology and Lamar University.
He served in the United States Marine Corps for 26 years and retired therefrom as a Gunny. While serving in the Marine Corps he did several tours in Vietnam, served as a cook for 1, 500 men three times a day, was a corpsman's assistant, served in the paratroopers, led the United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Team and served on ambassadorial duty in Spain.
Upon retiring from the Marines, he returned to Orange where he met and married his widow, Roberta Webster.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ernie; and daughter, Marlene Susan Webster.
He is survived by his widow, Roberta Webster; son, Mitchell Beaumon Webster, Jr.; grandson, Brenden Lane Webster; granddaughter, Amanda Webster; sisters, Annette George and Sondra Davis; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pursuant to the request of Mr. Webster, there will be no viewing of funeral service; private family service will be at the National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
There will be a memorial service at Harvest Chapel, 1305 Irving Street, West Orange, on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. with Sister Ruth Burch of Harvest Chapel and Brother Bob Simmons of Maranatha Christian Center conducting the service.
