Mr. S. A."Booty"Bourgeois
Mr. S.A. "Booty" Bourgeois died Thursday afternoon in a local hospital after an extended illness. He was 81 years old.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Orange, Texas. Reverend Joseph P. Daleo will officiate. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange on Monday, May 4, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Bourgeois is survived by Jo Ann, his wife of 58 years. He is also survived by sisters Nora Lee Sanders and Jeannete Calhoun and 6 neices and 6 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, S.A. Bourgeois, Sr. and Virginia Miller Bourgeois, a sister, Vivian Carr, and a brother, Herman Bourgeois.
He was born in Orange, Texas on October 25, 1927 and graduated from Lutcher Stark High School in Orange in 1945. Shortly after graduation, he volunteered for the U.S. Army and served 18 months during World War II. In 1948, he went to work for the Texas Highway Department and was involved with the construction of highways and bridges in the Southeast Texas area. In 1950, he was employed at the DuPont Chemical Company in Orange. He retired as Mechanical Foreman in 1985 with 35 years of service. He was a former member of the Orange Lions Club and the Orange Boating Club. He was an avid golfer and a true Texas Longhorn fan through good and bad times. He had resided in Longview for the last 14 years.
Pallbearers will be Robert Bourgeois, Steven Sanders, Tom Goodwyn, David Goodwyn, Dick Porter, and Reid Caruthers.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church of Longview, St. Mary's Catholic Church of Orange, or the American Lung Association.
