Myra Stakes, 88, of Bridge City, passed away on May 25, 2021, in Orange, TX.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange, TX.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home

Born in Clark Co, Arkansas, on May 7, 1933, she was the daughter of Jessy Brewer and Jemima Mae (Wilkerson) Brewer. Myra was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. ‘Nanaw’ to the grandkids, loved spending time with them and making a great meal for everyone to enjoy. Myra was an amazing cook, and no one can deny she had the best gumbo. She also enjoyed collecting chickens, even at one point having over 8,000 of them. Myra was a wonderful woman and she will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Chester Stakes; parents, Jessy Brewer and Jemima Mae (Wilkerson) Brewer; children, Patricia Collier, Rosetta Head, and Chester Stakes.

She is survived by her children, Linda Butler, Anna Woodham and husband Larry, Donna Fells Stakes, Winnie Whitton and husband Huey, and Loyd Stakes; 19 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
