Myrtle Laird Richardson, 93, of Orange, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, in Conroe.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at First Baptist Church in Orange with Reverend Barry Bradley, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Caldwell Parish, Louisiana on September 25, 1914, she was the daughter of John Nelson and Lucy Kinnison Laird.
A resident of Orange since 1941, Mrs. Richardson was a member of First Baptist Church in Orange for over 50 years.
An educator with 41 years of service, she was a teacher and principal in the former Orange School District and retired from the West Orange-Cove CISD as Director of Elementary Education after 27 years of service.
Mrs. Richardson was a charter member and the first president of the Orange Altrusa Club, served as state president of the Texas Association for Improvement of Reading and was active, throughout her life, in many other educational and civic organizations
She is survived by her husband, Elva J. Richardson of Orange; daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Michael Evans of Conroe; grandson, Alexander Williams and his wife, Amy, of Conroe; and two great granddaughters, Alyssa and Addison Williams.
Pallbearers will be Alex Williams, Mike Evans, Gary Richardson, Glen Richardson, Lester Allen, Dana Cruse, Larry David and Paul Laird.
