Nancy "Sue" Venable, 72, of Orange, passed from this life and made her "home coming" debut Sunday morning, January 16, 2011, after battling an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange with Deacon Eddie Blankenstein officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Born in French Camp, Mississippi on January 10, 1939, Sue was the daughter of William E. and Murriel Holloway Rodgers. Sue was a member of Community Church and had been a long time resident of Orange. Sue loved to dance, cook and entertain her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Joshua White.
Sue leaves behind her husband of 25 years, Douglas Venable; daughter, Jackie White of Orange; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Felicia of Mauriceville; step-daughters and sons-in-law, Liz and Barry Guess of Austin, and Lisa and Mike Nelmes of Reno, Nevada; step-sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Heidi Venable, Jr. of El Dorado, California, Charles and Leslie Venable of Nederland, and Chris Venable of Sulphur, Louisiana.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jenna White, JD Tohill, James and Amity Tarbutton, Oliver, Willow, Gwyneth and Cassidy Venable and McKay Nelmes; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Sharron Rogers of Run Away Bay; and sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie Ann and John Pate of Port Neches.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Charles Venable, Barry Guess, James Tarbutton, Kevin Kelly, Christopher Venable and Gerald Lindsey. Honorary Pallbearer will be Douglas Venable, Jr.
For the last year she was lovingly attended by Julie Louvier of Harbor Hospice.
