Nannie Maxine Lawson, 96, a former resident of Orange, died Monday, November 30, 2009, in a local hospital.
Friends are cordially invited to join the family for a graveside service to be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2009, at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange. Officiating will be the Reverend Lynn Ashcraft.
There will be no visitation.
Born on November 1, 1913, in Elizabeth, Louisiana, she was the daughter of Bud and Ada Turner Hunt.
On January 4, 1930, she married James Winston "Jim" Lawson. He preceded her in death on January 7, 2006, following 76 years of marriage.
Mrs. Lawson had been a resident of Orange for 55 years before moving to Nederland to be near her daughter. She was a homemaker, a member of North Orange Baptist Church, and for years was a Gray Lady volunteer at Orange Memorial Hospital.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Lawson was also preceded in death by her sister, Maida Venza.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law,
Jo Ann and James Rogers of Nederland; son, James W. Lawson, Jr. of Elgin, son and daughter-in-law John E. and Pat Lawson of Houston; grandchildren, Carrie Lawson Schneider and her husband, Chuck, Leslie Lawson Hillendahl and her husband, Brian, Rebecca Rogers Powell and her husband, Timothy; great grandchildren, Amanda Powell, Katherine Powell, Kameron Lawson Schneider; and cousin, Eddie Parker and his wife, Ruby of Deweyville.
